𢃇 is a Cantonese word specifically coined to replace the word 帆. In Cantonese, 帆 is pronounced [faan4] similar to 煩 which means ‘troublesome’, considered to be an inauspicious word. So 𢃇 is coined by borrowing the 巾 radical from 帆. And 里 is chosen for the right-hand side component because 里 [lei5] sounds like 利 [lei6] which means ‘smooth’ (as in 順利), the very opposite in meaning of ‘troublesome’. Subsequently, 看風駛帆 becomes 看風駛𢃇; 有風駛盡帆 becomes 有風駛盡𢃇.

𢃇 is difficult to type with some character sets so 履, also pronounced lei5, is often used as alternative.
