[n] small intestine (ie. of the gastrointestinal tract) When this term is part of a another (larger) term having 小腸 at the end, the 腸 continues to take a tone change. But if the embedding of 小腸 is not at the end, the 腸 usually reverts to citation tone #4, (though there are common exceptions).
