Kowloon Walled City (originally known as 九龍寨城) was a tiny Chinese enclave that was located in the middle of British Hong Kong for decades. Originally a military fort, it became a very dense urban settlement, until it was torn down in 1993. The area where it was located is now known as Kowloon City. It is part of the Kowloon City District of Kowloon, Hong Kong. The Kowloon Walled City Park 九龍城寨公園 where some historical buildings have been preserved, now occupies the area of the former walled city (Source: Wikipedia) [also see]: 三不管 Level: 3 This term is used in both Cantonese and Mandarin/Standard written Chinese. |
