The first part, always stated, is a descriptive metaphor while the second part, often left out, explains the point. This explanation can be (a) plain and straightforward, (b) a double-sense pun, or (c) a homophonic pun. The saying 電燈膽 => 唔通氣, for example, is a double-sense pun.
