be unlucky; run into bad luck 當衰 is the original term of the same meaning of "being unlucky". But 衰 [seoi1] is usually considered an inauspicious word. 垂 [seoi4] is a possible euphemism that sounds near to 衰, but it cannot be used in colloquial Cantonese. So 揼, which carries the same meaning of "hanging down”as 垂, is chosen to replace 衰.
This word can only be used in Spoken Cantonese or informal Cantonese writing. 粵 Level: 4
