The 10 characters were used by merchants to represent the 10 numerals respectively. According to 廣州話點解 (p.60), one silver dollar weighed 二分 and one dime weighed before WWII. Therefore, half a dime 斗令 was equal to 三分. It is noted that and represented 3 and 6 on the list, and 3 and 6 referred to 三分.
