Stone Bell Hill: it was remarked by 郦道元 (Li Daoyuan), a hydrographer of the Northern Wei Dynasty that when a gentle breeze stirs up the waves at a deep pond at the foot of the hill, the water would beat the rocks and make 贔響 (a loud sound) like that of a large bell, hence the name. Level: 4 This term is used in both Cantonese and Mandarin/Standard written Chinese. |
