sweat profusely; sweat a lot [lit] Genghis Khan beat his son. This is the first part of a 歇後語 which has 大汗𢱕(沓)細汗 as the second (not always hidden) part.
鐵木真 is better known as Genghis Khan (成吉思汗), the Great Khan (大汗). So, 鐵木真打仔 = 大汗𢱕細汗 = Great (big) Khan beat small khan" where 𢱕 means "beat". The word puns come from 汗 which means both "khan" and "sweat" and from 𢱕 [dap6] which sounds like 沓 [daap6]. 大汗沓細汗 is a very common Cantonese expression that literally means "big beads of sweat layering on small beads of sweat", i.e. to sweat profusely. |
