Lovingly designed and produced by /\dam, each of the 160 cards shows a traditional character on the front, with Cantonese pronunciation, stroke count and meaning on the back.The flashcards are colourfully printed at high resolution on quality lightweight card stock, and then neatly sliced up using a professional guillotine. Each set contains instructions, pronunciation guidelines, example compound words and more. The cost of the flashcards is £9.75 (approx $17.30 US at the time of writing) Postage varies (click the correct button!) but is not too bad as they qualify for the Royal Mail's "printed papers" rate. |

your fridge to help you learn Chinese!This set of pleasingly glossy magnetic tiles is a creative way to jog your memory and also looks pretty cool on the front of an oven or fridge! Each tile shows the character, meaning and jyutping pronunciation. The set includes pronunciation instructions and example words and sentences that can be made. This isn't really a "magnetic poetry" type set. You won't be able to write lengthy messages, I'd need to make a set containing thousands of characters for that! What it will let you do is learn 140 basic characters, and have fun arranging them into compound words and short sentences. Please note, practical design considerations mean that the meaning and pronunciation is printed quite small on each tile. Normal vision or short-sighted people will have no trouble but a long-sighted person might struggle. The characters themselves are printed nice and large though.
