Cultural Note

Unlike in the western zodiac, your Chinese zodiac sign depends on the year, not the month of your birth.  Also, each year starts from Chinese New Year, not January 1st.  It is acceptable to ask or answer a question about age in terms of the zodiac.  Chinese people are historically very superstitious and even today some people will wait for a propitious year to have a child.
