There are two main types of 量詞 (measure words) - 名量詞 (nominal measure word) and 動量詞 (verbal measure word). 名量詞 is also known as 'classifier' which is often (erroneously) used to stand for both types of measure words because there are far more 名量詞 than 動量詞 in Chinese grammar.
