disgusting; unwelcome; abominable; accursed; highly unpopular; a person whom everybody dislikes intensely [lit] cat shit on the altar This is the first part of a 歇後語 which has 神憎鬼厭 as the hidden part. Literally, cat shit on the altar is certainly sth shunned by the gods and ghosts alike, i.e. 神憎鬼厭. But 神憎鬼厭 by itself is also a very common idiom which figuratively means "disgusting, unwelcome".
