someone who takes advantage of other people; an exploiter; lit. pineapple chicken (Pineapple chicken is the mascot of the Pala Temple in Canton (Pala of India sounds like Pineapple). The mascot is made by gluing feathers on cardboard. In Cantonese, “glue” can also mean “sponging off one’s relatives or friends”. As the whole chicken is made by gluing, it becomes a symbol of someone who loves to “glue”, sponging off people.
