[1] "overthrow the Qing Dynasty and restore the Ming Dynasty" was a popular slogan for uprising against the governing Manchu empire (Qing dynasty) [2] The hand salute used by most southern Chinese martial arts (Kung Fu 功夫), the open left hand covering the right fist, signified a loyalty to the Ming and opposition to the Qing.
